About us

For over 150 years Lincoln Bishop University has been an integral part of Lincoln. Deep in the heart of this historic city, just a few minutes’ walk from the Castle and Cathedral, we have evolved from humble roots as an Anglican teacher training college into a renowned institution awarded first place for Teaching in the National Student Survey 2025.

Our story started in the 1860s as an Anglian teacher training college for women. Since then, we've grown, adapted and modernised over time to become the leading and thriving university we are today, educating over 2000 students in subjects ranging from primary education to psychology; foundation degrees to a PhD, and much more in between.
